YAM is a collective of experienced artists, educators, and youth advocates dedicated to engaging youth and inspiring communities through profound artistic experiences.
YAM is championed by experts in the fields of youth development, public art, education, and justice. Our advisory committee includes: Judge Arthur Hunter (Orleans Criminal District Court); Ron Bechet (Xavier University, Department of Art); Carol Bebelle, Jo Ann Minor, and Karel Sloane-Boekbinder (Ashé Cultural Arts Center); Timeka Junius (YAYA); Heidi Schmalbach, Alphonse Smith, and Jose Cotto (Arts Council New Orleans); Alberta Wright (Young Creative Agency); Sarah Woodward (Tulane University, City, Culture and Community Program, formerly Mural Music & Arts Project in Bay Area); Jamar Pierre (J. Pierre Studios); and Dee Jay Pate (New Orleans International Muralists).
A New Orleans in which young adults see themselves as creative assets and are engaged in opportunities to work with and learn from local, national, and international artists; equipping young adults to cultivate their creative, intellectual, and leadership potential to enact social change.
